Winery Zoppi Cristina
The Zoppi Cristina Organic Farm, nestled in the picturesque hills of Viarigi in the heart of Monferrato, is a family-oriented business grounded in the fundamental values of family, friendship, and respect for the surrounding environment, with a strong commitment to social agriculture.
Founded on solidarity and mutual assistance, this certified organic farm spans 15 hectares dedicated to grape cultivation and another 15 to hazelnuts. Its philosophy revolves around organic production, a commitment that, though demanding in practices, ensures quality results. A focus on sustainability guides cultivation management, with minimal mechanical interventions to preserve the lives of herbs and wildlife.
The primary objective is to produce a natural and excellent product, limiting quantity through practices such as short pruning to five or six buds and selective green pruning. Despite a preference for traditional methods, the farm also utilizes technology and research to combat vine diseases in compliance with regional regulations. The decision to move some cultivations to pristine areas delimited by woods stems from environmental considerations, aiming for a purer raw material. The fertile and diversified territory, rich in various soil types, is a strength shared by many organic farms in the area committed to entirely organic and natural techniques.
Grapes from different D.O.C.G vine varieties are cultivated naturally and organically, preserving forgotten characteristics like herbs, sarset, donnette, dog teeth, and flowers, supporting the habitat of bees and ladybugs. Working in the vineyards often brings encounters with small and large animals like mini hares, deer, or wild boars, exploring the territory alongside the farm's cats that rest in the shade during warm days and seek refuge in the pruners' overalls during winter.
The farm cultivates about fifteen hectares of vineyards, including varieties such as Barbera d'Asti, Grignolino d'Asti, Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato, and Monferrato Nebbiolo, along with fifteen hectares dedicated to hazelnuts. Their dedication to nature and humanity is reflected in the production of a sincere and straightforward product, destined not only for Monferrato but also for distant countries that recognize and appreciate the potential of this extraordinary land.
Recently, the farm enriched itself with the addition of a Romanesque church dedicated to San Marziano, giving birth to the new "Marziano" Ruché wine. Furthermore, it has invested its efforts in recovering varieties characterized by high-quality properties, a return to the roots of the territory before being abandoned due to their low productivity. This commitment highlights Zoppi Cristina's constant dedication to preserving and enhancing the richness of her land.
